and the first thing we
did was to look for our kababayans. We have since found many
friends who have warmly welcomed us into their homes and made us
part of their families. They also introduced us to FAAWIS in
which we have been involved for several years.

I am grateful for the opportunity given to me as
the leader of the organization. This is a very exciting time for me
and I look forward to serving the community. There are many challenges
and tasks ahead and the very idea that I am leading one of the
largest, if not the largest Filipino group in Winconsin, could be
overwhelming and probably a bit scary. However, I am comforted in the
knowledge that I am surrounded by and have the support and assistance
of many talented, dedicated, and generous people. It is my hope to
continue and further strengthen our community connection by promoting
different interactive programs. We have many plans for this year which
include sports events and focused programs for our children and youth.
I would like to encourage involvement of our children, so that
someday, they too, may become active in our community and carry on our
culture and traditions. I would like to start a program that
recognizes their hard work and accomplishments.
The success of our organization and events throughout the year is made
possible by all of you. YOU are FAAWIS, and your involvement in the
organization will only help strengthen our community. You have been
supportive of the organization in the past and we hope that you will
continue this year and in the years to come. We look forward to
meeting you at FAAWIS events. Your ideas are welcomed and appreciated.
